The manufacturer has extensive experience in making accessories for handpans and tongue drums, including various types of stands, holders, pickups, and preamplifiers. However, they wanted to create something even more innovative and compact. They came up with the idea to combine all these accessories into one compact device that serves as a universal stand and also amplifies the sound of the instrument.
Orbis HEX is easy to use. You simply connect it to any amplifier, combo, mixer, or use it with headphones. It has a separate output for headphones. You then place your handpan or drum on the soft cushions and start playing. No additional cables or pickups are needed.
Orbis HEX has three main features:
- Universal stand: Orbis HEX has three telescopic legs that allow you to adjust the height. It is suitable for people of any height and for playing in a standing or sitting position. You can also detach the legs from the HEX body and use it as a tabletop stand. The soft cushions provide safety for your instrument and secure fixation. You can use Orbis HEX for instruments of different diameters, from 30 to 60 cm.
- Pickup system: Orbis HEX has three built-in pickups for even sound extraction. This system allows you to pick up the sound of your instrument rather than the surrounding environment.
- Built-in preamplifier: Orbis HEX allows you to adjust the volume and tone of the sound. You can adjust the low and high frequencies to get the desired sound. The panel contains two volume controls - one for the outgoing signal that you transmit to the amplifier, sound card, combo, or other device, and a separate volume control for headphones.
We added a headphone output to this device, which can be useful during live performances when there are many other instruments around and you cannot hear yourself well. In other words, you get the ability to monitor your sound and control it at the same time.
Usage:
- Insert the telescopic legs into the conical holders on the bottom surface of Orbis HEX. Place HEX on the floor and adjust the height to your comfort using the screws on each leg.
- Connect Orbis Hex to your amplifier, combo, mixer, sound card, effects processor, pedalboard - you can use it with any equipment, such as an electric guitar. Orbis works perfectly with guitar and bass amplifiers, acoustic combos, mixers, and speakers from various manufacturers. To connect, use a standard instrument cable with a standard ¼” jack connector.
- Activate Orbis - turn the Volume/On control knob. Place your instrument (handpan, tongue drum) on the three soft holders. Turn on your amplifier/mixer/other device. Adjust the volume to your comfort using the Volume knob. Set the desired tone using the Bass and Treble knobs. Play!
